Celebrating Victories And Legends

Singapore once again became the heartbeat of global cycling this November, hosting the third edition of the Tour de France Prudential Singapore Criterium 2024

The event wasn’t merely a road bike race—it was a festival of speed, endurance, and emotion, highlighted by the poignant farewell of cycling legend Mark Cavendish, the man whose 35 stage victories have written his name indelibly into Tour de France history.

“The farewell moment with Sir Mark was unforgettable, especially when everyone lifted their bikes while he passed through the peloton,” shared a thrilled Muhammad Herlangga, a rider from the Nusantara Cycling Team, Indonesian Pro Team, making his debut at the Singapore Criterium.

A World-Class Road Bicycle Battle in the Heart of Singapore

Under Singapore’s blazing tropical sun, world-class cyclists went wheel-to-wheel in a thrilling 57.5 km battle—25 laps around a 2.3 km circuit—preceded by a Pro Team Time Trial that tested teamwork and precision.

The peloton featured star riders such as Biniam Girmay, the multiple Green Jersey winner in this year’s Tour de France, and Jasper Philipsen, the sprint king who conquered Stage 16.

For Southeast Asia’s cycling scene, the event was a moment of pride. Malaysia’s Terengganu Polygon Cycling Team (TSG) maintained their title as Asia’s No. 1 team in 2024. “We just enjoy the race this weekend and hope to give our best,” said Aiman Cahyadi, one of TSG’s top riders.

Representing Team Singapore, Polygon rider Arfan Faisal expressed heartfelt pride.

“I’m really proud, as is everyone else, to have the opportunity to race against the big names and show what we’re made of. I think we’re made of grit, hard work, and perseverance. Tomorrow, we’ll give it our all and see how far we can push ourselves.”

Pro Team Time Trial: Precision, Power, and Polygon Pride

The Pro Team Time Trial opened the weekend with a breathtaking display of coordination and speed. TSG delivered a commanding performance, finishing first—barely two seconds ahead of Nusantara Cycling Team.

Their determination and focus captured the essence of what makes the best road bikes truly shine: reliability, aerodynamics, and unyielding performance under pressure.

Celebrating Southeast Asia’s Spirit and Strength

Among local favorites, Singapore’s National Athlete Riyadh Hakim stood out with an impressive third-place finish in the PRURide Seeker’s Mixed Open Criterium—riding the sleek Polygon Helios A8X road bike.

Meanwhile, Aiman Cahyadi expressed his pride in representing a homegrown brand:

“As an Indonesian, I’m proud to ride Polygon. This brand represents Southeast Asia on the global stage—it’s inspiring to ride alongside the pros on a bike that symbolizes our region.”
