Pre-Order Bike FAQ

What does it mean to pre-order a bike?

A pre-order allows you to reserve a bike before it arrives in Canada. All bikes currently available for pre-order in our online store have already been manufactured and are currently in transit to Canada.

Are these bikes already built or are they being produced after I order?

All bikes available for purchase in our online store have already been built at the Polygon factory. They are currently on the water and on their way to Canada.

What happens after I place my pre-order?

  • Your bike is reserved from our incoming shipment
  • The shipment arrives in Canada
  • Orders are processed and prepared for shipping
  • You receive a shipping confirmation with tracking

When will my bike arrive in Canada?

Our current shipment is expected to arrive in the first week of May (NOTE: This should be an actual date to create confidence for the customer in placing the order) . We will continue to provide updates to all customers with outstanding pre-orders if there are any changes to the estimated arrival date.

What happens if there are delays?

While we expect bikes to arrive as scheduled, international shipping can occasionally experience delays. If there are any changes to the expected arrival timeline, Polygon Canada will communicate updates to all customers as soon as possible to ensure complete transparency

Do I need to pay the full amount when placing a pre-order?

Yes. Full payment is required to secure a bike from our incoming shipment to Canada. All bikes available for pre-order have already been manufactured and are currently in transit. Because quantities are limited, full payment confirms your reservation and guarantees that a bike from this shipment is allocated to you. If you decide to cancel your order before the bike ships, Polygon Canada will provide a full refund of the purchase price.

Do I need to pay sales tax?

Yes. Orders shipped within Canada are subject to applicable provincial sales tax (GST/HST/PST), which will be calculated automatically at checkout based on your shipping address.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major payment methods including:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • American Express

How much will it cost to ship my bike to me?

The shipping rate will be calculated by your postal code during the checkout process but rates start at $50 and the maximum shipping rate we have in Canada is $150. .

Where can my bike be shipped?

You can choose to have your bike shipped to:

  • Your home address (requires bike to be built)
  • A local bicycle dealer
  • Your local MEC store

Selecting a professional shop for delivery can be a convenient option if you would like assistance with bike assembly or setup. Additional fees may apply and will be determined by the dealer.

How does purchasing a pre-order bike support my local bike dealer?

If you choose to have your bike shipped to a participating local bike shop, we share a portion of the sale with that dealer. This allows the shop to be compensated for receiving the bike, preparing it, and helping ensure it’s set up correctly for you.

Our goal is to work alongside local bike shops, not compete with them. Bike shops play an essential role in the cycling community by providing expert advice, professional assembly, service, and long-term support for riders.

By choosing shop delivery, you get the benefit of a professionally prepared bike while also supporting the local businesses that help keep cycling communities thriving.

When will my bike ship to me?

Once the shipment arrives at our Canadian warehouse, we will begin processing and shipping all orders. Please allow approximately two weeks for all pre-orders to be processed and shipped

As soon as your order ships, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information

Will I receive updates on my order?

Yes. We will keep you informed throughout the process, including:

  • Shipment arrival updates
  • Order processing confirmation
  • Shipping notification with tracking

Our goal is to ensure you always know the status of your order and get you excited to go riding.

Will my bike arrive assembled?

Bikes are shipped partially assembled in a protective bike box. Basic assembly is required, typically including installing the handlebar, front wheel, front brake caliper, pedals, and seatpost.

Customers can either:

  • Complete the final assembly themselves, or
  • Have the bike shipped to a local shop for professional assembly.

Why should I consider having my bike shipped to a local bike shop instead of my home?

Having your bike shipped to a participating local bike shop is a convenient option that ensures your new bike is professionally prepared and ready to ride.

When your bike arrives at the shop, experienced mechanics can inspect the bike, complete the final assembly, and ensure everything is properly adjusted before you pick it up. This can provide extra peace of mind, especially if you’re not comfortable completing the final setup yourself.

Choosing shop delivery also helps support your local cycling community. We partner with participating dealers and share a portion of the sale with them for their role in receiving and supporting your bike.

For many riders, this option provides the best combination of convenience, professional setup, and local support to get you riding quickly and confidently.

What if I want to build the bike myself?

We understand that many riders have the experience and tools needed to complete the final assembly of their bike themselves. If you choose to have your bike shipped directly to your home, you are welcome to complete the final assembly on your own.

Because bicycles are technical products that must be assembled correctly for safe operation, customers who choose this option will be asked to review and sign a self-assembly waiver before their order is shipped.

The waiver simply acknowledges that you are choosing to complete the assembly yourself and that proper installation and adjustment of all components is required for safe riding.

If you are not fully confident in completing the setup, we recommend having your bike shipped to a local bicycle shop for professional assembly and inspection before riding. This ensures everything is properly installed and adjusted so you can ride safely and get the best performance from your bike.

What tools are required for final assembly?

Basic tools such as:

  • Allen keys
  • Torque wrench
  • Pedal wrench

may be required to complete final assembly. If you are unsure about the process, we recommend professional assembly at a local bike shop.

How do I choose the correct bike size?

Each bike product page includes a size guide to help you select the correct frame size based on your height.

If you need help selecting a size, our customer support team or your local bike dealer can assist you.

What if the bike doesn’t fit me?

If you are unsure about sizing, we recommend reviewing the size guide or contacting our team before placing your order.

For bikes shipped to a local dealer, the shop can assist with final adjustments to help ensure proper fit.

Can I change my order after placing it?

If you need to update your order (such as shipping address or delivery preference), please contact our customer support team as soon as possible. Changes can usually be made before your order ships.
