By selecting self-assembly and completing this purchase, I acknowledge and agree that:
- Bicycles are complex mechanical products that must be properly assembled, adjusted, and inspected to be safe for use. Improper assembly may result in serious injury or death.
- I am choosing to assemble the bicycle myself and confirm that I have the necessary mechanical knowledge, experience, and proper tools to do so safely and correctly.
- I understand that Polygon Bikes Canada does not verify my skill level and may not provide comprehensive assembly instructions for all models.
- I accept full responsibility for ensuring the bicycle is properly assembled, adjusted, and safe to ride prior to use.
- I agree to seek professional assembly if I do not have the required expertise.
Polygon Bikes Canada – Customer Self-Assembly Acknowledgement and Liability Waiver
This Self-Assembly Bicycle Waiver and Release of Liability (“Agreement”) is entered into by the undersigned customer (“Customer”) in connection with the purchase of a bicycle or bicycle product requiring assembly from Polygon Bikes Canada (“Polygon”).
1. Acknowledgement of Technical Nature of Product
The Customer acknowledges and agrees that:
- Bicycles are mechanical and technical products requiring proper assembly, adjustment, and ongoing maintenance in order to function safely.
- Improper assembly, adjustment, or maintenance of a bicycle may result in mechanical failure, loss of control, serious injury, or death.
- Bicycle assembly requires mechanical knowledge, technical skill, and the use of appropriate tools and equipment.
- By electing to assemble the bicycle themselves, the Customer represents and warrants that they possess the necessary knowledge, experience, and competence to properly assemble, adjust, and inspect the bicycle so that it is safe for use.
- The Customer further acknowledges that Polygon does not verify the Customer’s skill level, tools, or assembly process.
- Professional assembly performed by a qualified bicycle mechanic is strongly recommended by Polygon.
By choosing self-assembly, the Customer accepts full responsibility for ensuring the bicycle is properly assembled, adjusted, inspected, and maintained before use.

2. Assumption of Risk
The Customer knowingly and voluntarily assumes all risks associated with the self-assembly, adjustment, maintenance, and use of the bicycle, including but not limited to:
- Improper installation or tightening of components.
- Failure to follow manufacturer instructions.
- Use of incorrect tools or torque specifications.
- Failure to properly inspect the bicycle prior to riding.
- Mechanical failure resulting from improper assembly.
The Customer acknowledges that these risks may result in property damage, personal injury, permanent disability, or death.
3. Release and Waiver of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Customer agrees to release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless Polygon Bikes Canada, its parent companies, affiliates, employees, officers, directors, agents, distributors, and suppliers from any and all claims, demands, damages, losses, or causes of action arising out of or relating to:
- Self-assembly or improper assembly of the bicycle.
Any injury, death, or property damage resulting from assembly or use of the bicycle following self-assembly.
This release applies whether such claims arise from negligence or otherwise, except where prohibited by applicable law.
4. Customer Responsibility
The Customer agrees that they are solely responsible for:
- Determining the proper methods, procedures, and standards required to safely assemble and prepare the bicycle for use.
- Ensuring all components are properly installed, secured, and adjusted
- Using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Inspecting all components before use.
- Ensuring the bicycle is safe and properly functioning prior to riding.
- Seeking professional mechanical assistance if uncertain about any assembly or safety procedure or if they do not have the required expertise.
5. No Reliance on Verbal Advice
The Customer acknowledges that any verbal or written advice provided by Polygon representatives is general guidance only and does not replace profes-sional mechanical assembly or inspection.
6. Confirmation of Understanding
By checking the checkbox in our checkout process, the Customer confirms that they:
- Have read and fully understand this customer declaration.
- Understand the risks associated with bicycle self-assembly.
- Voluntarily accept those risks.
- Agrees to this customer declaration.
